Town Porto gave the name one of the famoust wine (nevertheless somebody need not count this wine among the wines). Port wine or only Port started be known already in 18.th.century, when it starteed be very popular especially in England. Today it is possible to call port wine the only wine which matured in the Douro valley. I am not sure if the town Porto is more known as the Port wine.
